Strict Port Surveillance
The Ministry has a lot ramped up its surveillance protocols at all major ports of entry, including the Norman Manley and Sangster International Airports. Quarantine officers are now conducting rigorous health screenings for all incoming passengers.
Mandatory Quarantine
As a strict precautionary measure, the MOHW announced that any traveler arriving in Jamaica who has been in or transited through an Ebola-affected country within the last month will be subject to a mandatory 21-day self-quarantine. Recently, eight individuals fitting this criteria were placed in quarantine. The Ministry confirmed that none of these individuals have exhibited any symptoms of the virus, and they are being monitored daily by public health nurses.
Citizens are urged not to panic, but to remain vigilant and rely only on official updates from the Ministry regarding global health threats.
